Carlos Rico-Keyboards, Vocals, Composer, and Bassist
Born in Havana, Cuba listening to the Great Beatles and the Rolling Stones knowing that it was forbidden to listen to American radio while growing up. Rico delves into these influences and discovers he wants to play an instrument, and taught him self how to play the Bass and also discovered his own roots. He then moved to Miami, Florida, and performed with many well-known and talented musicians, that taught him a great deal in the music industry. In addition to mastering the bass like a right handed person plays, he made a sudden shift in interest to focus on the keyboards which he learned to play on his own, knowing the piano he found it easy, now he performs as a Keyboardist and also is the Vocalist of the Latin Explosion. He can sing you an old Bolero (Ballad) to a cumbia, to a disco, and boy can he Salsa. He has recorded five CD’s in a wide variety of music listen to some clips @ the soundclips page.
Edwin Diaz-Percussionist & Vocals
Better know as Joe Manhattan began his performing career as a drummer, born in Puerto Rico he has been playing drums since he was twelve years old. During his High School years he played with a variety of Jazz Combos & big Bands. In 1980, he joined The Latin Explosion and has been performing with the group since. He also sings, tunes by Steely Dan, The Police and many more.
Tony Canul- Known to all as Pichi, he’s like the Jack-of-All-Trades; He can play his saxophone, go the flute, and pick up his accordion to the trombone, and the trumpet too. He’s The Latin Explosions’ horn section; he’s been performing with The Latin Explosion since 1980. Besides being the Jack, Tony is also a music Instructor, he teaches at a Los Angeles Music Institute, and Private Lessons as well. Listen to his solo on our video page.
Charlene Ramirez – Is the daughter of Carlos Rico started her debut with the Latin Explosion started in 1999 as a Vocalist. She sings all the Selena tunes, tunes by Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez and many more. Charlene's vocals are very well liked by so many.
Vanessa– Is one of our new female vocalist who can sing all latin tunes like "Escandalo", "No Sepa Mi Sufrir", "La Puerta Negra", she sings tunes by Thelma Houston, Madonna, Oldies, and much more. Vanessa started with the Latin Explosion in June of 2007, you can listen to her on our Video Page.
